    MEETING PROGRAM: Recycle Right - with Mike di Milo

    Today's program will reveal the state of recycling and solid waste management in San Luis Obispo County, including the anaerobic digester facility that turns food waste into compost and electricity! Learn how to take the next step in using natural resources wisely and creating less waste. After seeing this thought-provoking presentation, you'll have a new perspective on what we throw away.

    Mike di Milo is the education program coordinator for the San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management Authority (IWMA). This is Mike’s 29th year of providing recycling education programs in San Luis Obispo County.

    Mike graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Natural Resources Management and has lived in San Luis Obispo since 1978.

    MEETING PROGRAM: 
    What’s Growing on at the SLO Botanical Garden

    An overview of the past, present, and future of the SLO Botanical Garden.

    Janine Stillman is the Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, bringing a lifelong passion for home gardening and deep nonprofit and operational experience to her role. She joined the Garden in 2017 first as a volunteer, later serving as Business Manager and Operations Director, before assuming the position of Executive Director in early 2023.

    After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in Biological Sciences, Janine remained on the Central Coast and spent over 30 years co-running Stillman Enterprises, a General Contracting firm she operated with her husband. She built extensive expertise in business management, operations, and project oversight which continues to inform her thoughtful, hands-on leadership at the Garden.

    In addition to her nonprofit work, Janine is the owner of Designs by Ja9, where she is a renowned fused glass artist and instructor.
