Monday Club Raising A Reader Summer Book Drive Launch on May 9
2022 EQUITY & ACCESS TO LITERACY: GETTING MORE BOOKS TO CHILDREN.
We will collect new and “gently loved” children’s books (Infant – Grade 6) from the community and deliver them to the SLO Food Bank to be distributed via a program called “Breakfast Bags.” We will also donate books to the County-wide Raising A Reader program events in October.
Join us as we launch this year’s book drive on May 9 at 1:30pm at The Monday Club with a presentation of a donation to the Community Foundation for Raising A Reader. Everyone from the SLO Community is welcome!
Book Drop-off dates: 2nd & 4th Mondays in May, June and July, 2-5 pm. Note: drop-off time for May 23 is 12-3 pm. We hope you all will join us in donating a book for this exciting project!Click here for a printable flyer to share!
RAISING A READER is a national, award-winning, early childhood literacy program which helps family develop, practice, and maintain home literacy routines.
RAR provides children a bookbag, 4 books (rotating the selection weekly), and library introduction with first library card
RAR also provides parents and guardians training and resources for literacy and oral language development, to support a child’s reading readiness and family bonding.

TMC LITTLE LIBRARY
The Monday Club and Raising A Reader committee are working to create a Little Library on the Clubhouse grounds to share with the SLO Community. The structure of the Little Library is being constructed by local wood craftsman Gary Smith, and will be filled with books by the Raising A Reader committee. The books will be available for anyone to borrow.
