  • Caryl was funny, kind, fiercely intelligent and beautiful. Through her empathy for others, she imparted on me the importance of civil rights and human rights. I feel lucky that she was my mother.
  • Joan’s passion for life, mastery of all she undertakes, devotion to humankind, exemplary teaching career, tireless fundraising, and open-mindedness make her worthy of being my Woman of Influence.
  • My stepmother, Alice, used to take us to her aunt’s Guggenheim plantation in Georgia where she taught us to use oars on the dock to scare away Water Moccasins before we jumped into the river to swim.
  • Mary was born January 23, 1911 in Everett Washington. She graduated from San Juan Capistrano High School. Mary was a survivor of the Depression, a Navy wife, Grandmother, and best friend.
  • Monday Club Member since 2012, Vicki has served as Board President and other Board of Directors positions. She is incredibly dedicated to her family, TMC preservation, friendships and great wine.

  • An influential woman celebrating 60 years of fabulousness! Originally from Saskatchewan, she divides her time between Scottsdale, Seattle & SLO. Business owner, mother, author, and dear friend to all.
  • Willita Faulkner was the embodiment of love and compassion. She was quick to help others and always encouraged those around her to be the best versions of themselves.
  • A beautifully eclectic eternal optimist, she supported women, the environment, animal rights and mentored young women in business, cancer patients on survival & not-so young women in life transitions.
  • Smart, funny, friendly, beautiful and caring. This describes my friend Iris Gould, but overlaying all of that is her positivity - always finding a way to make it through adversity with style and wit.
  • Joy was a 26-year leader & past President of TMC. In her 90’s she read to kindergarteners with Raising a Reader. WWII Red Cross volunteer, set designer for SLOREP, 5 kids & a career at Cal Trans.
  • Celine is the most exceptionally caring person I have ever known. She is effortless in her goodness, but I am also stunned by her courageousness! She surmounts challenges with quiet determination.
  • Vice-president Harris is an inspiration to little girls and women everywhere!
  • A philanthropist, feminist and suffragist, Ms. Hearst influenced her son William Randolph to hire Julia Morgan as architect for Hearst Castle, which led to Ms. Morgan designing The Monday Clubhouse.
  • A Columbia Univ. graduate, Kathleen moved to California, where she had two sons and a career in education. She shared her love of reading and travelling with her children, grandchildren and students.
  • Gerry joined TMC in 1963 and is a very active Lifetime Member. Her can-do attitude, quiet strength of conviction, and hard work for the good of her community and those around her, touches everyone.
  • Gertrude taught me to create something–anything, education is everything to a woman, and to become whatever I chose. I am so proud to honor this woman of influence.
  • After serving in the WWII Navy WAVES, Fern married, was a devoted and inspiring mother, and worked to make a difference in the world. She was a member of the SLO Cattlewomen and Quota International.
  • A devoted educator and cherished member of the community, Ardith's passion for teaching spanned generations, extended beyond traditional classrooms. She also co-founded the Cabrillo Orchid Society.
  • Fun, wickedly funny and intelligent, she has taught me what real friendship is about. I admire her greatly for her amazing energy and commitment to friends and to those in need.
  • Harriet (Hattie) McGuire Layman 1902-1976
  • Born in Houston in 1924, Charlotte worked in accounting, married and had 7 children. She was an artist, writer, student, community volunteer, and vibrant presence, but to us she was Just Plain Granny.
  • Julia Morgan born 1872, architect and engineer. She designed over 700 buildings including The Monday Club. First female graduate of L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. First female licensed California architect.
  • Catherine was passionate about the power of literacy. Upon joining The Monday Club she made a lasting impact. She became Vice President, started the Book Club and was involved in Raising a Reader.
  • Margaret was an RN in the US Navy, where she met her husband, a mother, member of the Garden Grove Women’s Club and an OB nurse. She believed women could do anything and live an independent life.
  • Grandma Vi taught me the difference between right and wrong, to laugh and enjoy the beauty of our state California. She was a very important part of my childhood.
  • Donna Marie Layman Qualls 1926-2009
  • While in college Caroline talked her way into an internship at Mademoiselle magazine and became an editor at Glamour Magazine right after. She was an artist, a painter, and a whiz with a palette knife
  • Dr. Ruiz, an OB/GYN, immigrated to the US from Peru in 1973. She advocated for healthcare accessibility and was a strong role model for the Latino community and for all women in San Luis Obispo Co.
  • Marie is a role model to her daughters, granddaughters and all the women in her life. Her intellect, leadership and compassion are only a few of the attributes that make her an exceptional woman.
  • Roswitha has inspired me try things I may never have done without her as an extraordinary role model. She is one of the most generous and caring individuals I have known.
  • My mom has been an inspiration for her kindness to all, her avid support of the arts and theatre and her calling as a gifted builder. As a general contractor she built homes for 40 years into her 80s.
  • Born 11/11/1917 in Oakland, CA. After raising six children, Gert changed careers and was the first woman elected as a Mariposa County Supervisor. She served in this position for 17 years.
  • Born in Caistor, Lincolnshire, England April 6, 1890, Lucy immigrated to the USA in 1901 and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. She had a wonderful spirt and was the life of the party.
  • Pearl was a teacher, co-founder of Thoma Electric Co. and an indefatigable volunteer with a big heart, including serving Chris Jespersen School for children with special needs for over 50 years.
  • Loving wife, mother, teacher, and friend.
  • A 6th gen. Californian and Gov. Figueroa descendant, Dawn joined the The Monday Club in 1948 and would have been excited that her daughter-in-law, Dawn M. Turner, became president of The Monday Club.
  • TMC President for the Centennial, Dawn is committed to the club’s rich heritage & remarkable journey, wholeheartedly dedicated to honoring the past and securing the future of Julia Morgan’s clubhouse.
  • Joyce led by example with polite enthusiasm, tireless creativity and a non-competitive work ethic. Her zest for life included a love of the outdoors, music, polka dancing and champagne with friends.
  • All of the remarkable women who have made The Monday Club so impactful to our community over the course of it’s 100 Years, 1924-2024.
  • My mother-in-law was an inspiration & role model to me for over 40 years. Though widowed at 51, she never complained and always had a positive outlook on life, and was very supportive to her family.
