Construction and Fundraising Progress!

February 20, 2019 8:00 AM | Jennifer Alderman (Administrator)

Beloved Members,

The construction project continues apace. In spite of the seemingly endless rain, the foundation for the new addition was completed and the exterior framing has begun. The non-historic portico was removed from the Andrews Street entrance and the beautiful architecture on that side of the building can now be better admired and appreciated (see image in the Building and Grounds newsletter section). The replacement of the original, and scarily unsafe, electrical wiring in the historic clubhouse is on schedule for timely completion. Overall, things are moving forward as expected.

I am happy to share with you that we achieved our $100,000 fundraising goal that was announced in the February newsletter and at the General Meeting. This is a direct result of the generosity of our Monday Club membership who continue to show their support and understanding of the importance of this preservation and restoration project. Behind the scenes, there has been quite a bit of teamwork on the part of the Board and the entire Capital Campaign Committee. Thanks to all who made it happen.

The effort continues and we will announce our next fundraising goal and strategy at the March General Meeting.

With gratitude,

Jennifer Alderman
